It is a bold claim but I can say with certainty that I believe reading is the most impactful discipline I have developed to aid in my hospitality efforts. 

You might be surprised to hear that. I cook almost every day for people who don’t live in my house and yet cooking is not the most impactful skill I’ve developed. 

I clean almost constantly (or at least it feels like that) and I’m a decluttering junkie and that make hosting MUCH easier but it is not the most impactful thing I’ve done. 

There are a lot of important things that we can do to improve our hosting but I am 100% confident that reading is the MOST important. 

Reading books, not only online articles, makes us sit long in someone else’s perspective. It gives us something to talk about with almost anyone. And it equips us with resources to point others too.
